ESPON in Progress

Preliminary results by autumn 2003

The ESPON Synthesis Report I is a tool for the ongoing debate of issues related to the structure, cohesion and development of the European territory. The purpose of the report is to communicate the progress made within ESPON after the first year of activities. It presents preliminary ESPON results (status autumn 2003) on territorial imbalances and interactions as well as on impacts of policies in relation to the unbalanced distribution of factors of competitiveness and to territorial cohesion. In addition the report presents innovations in spatial analysis and an outlook on new activities in the ESPON programme.
