A selection of new maps, November 2004

The ESPON Briefing 1 presents a selection of 10 European maps on different spatial development issues, proving a comprehensive picture of the new Europe. The topics addressed are among others population development, the European urban system, accessibility and the importance of research and development. The flow of the 10 maps presented moves from simple thematic maps towards more integrated innovative and experimental maps.

This shows the range of ESPON activities and the challenges ahead of developing new territorial indicators, scientific concepts and operational tools.
