Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein - PROFECY

Each case study within the PROFECY project looks into real inner peripheral problems and by applying the theoretical concepts and analysing the critical factors and drivers in the inner peripheral processes aims to improve practical responses. The Siegen-Wittgenstein district in Germany has relatively low access to regional centres and certain services of general interest. This case study discusses, among other things, the regional structure development programme REGIONALE as an instrument for tackling peripheralisation processes. This instrument appeared to be very useful to close the network gap at intermediary regional level and to promote the areas’ visibility for higher administrative and policy levels.
